Anima Youth C.I.C.

What we offer

Anima Youth was set up in 2014.  Between 2014-2018, Anima's Youth ran as an unincorporated charitable organisation, running projects which solely supported girls and young women. However, in 2019 the organisation formally constituted into a Community Interest Company (Social Enterprise) and widened its support to cover both girls and boys, as the amount of young men needing support, especially within mental health and career guidance had soared due to the knife crime epidemic. Though as an organisation, we maintain our specialism in issues faced by young women and supporting young women, with our core organisational project the beingHer programme, the organisation now additionally runs projects supporting Mental Health and Career Guidance for all young people.

Our Mission is to remove barriers faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and support them to transition smoothly into independent life, through youth led projects that address their needs .

Our Vision is that no young person is stopped from fulfilling their best potential, due to coming from a disadvantage background.

The organisation has directly supported over 2,400 young people to date through direct work, and we have reached 6,000 young people through direct work and via social media.

As reflected in our values, Anima Youth places a great emphasis on being youth-led. We reflect this in our day to day work by having young people on our Management Advisory Board, additionally for any existing project or new project that we develop, we ensure that we consult with the young people who live in the areas where we carry out the programmes, to ensure we are tailoring individual project programmes to the needs of the young people from that particularly area and community.
